Typical Procedures of In-Office Teeth Whitening

In-Office procedure will look like this:

  1. A whitening gel is used with a laser

  2. Translucent bleachng gel is applied to the teeth

  3. Laser light is used to activate crystals to absorb the energy from the light

  4. The crystals penetrate the teeth enamel to increase the lightening effect and "whiten" the teeth

  5. The time spent in the chair depends on degree of discoloration but ranges from _45 mins__ to an hour.

Advantage: It usually takes one visit to get a bright smile while it may take 2 to 6 bleaching treatments with in home treatments. However, statistics on customer satisfaction state an average of three dentist visits are required to achieve the desired results and maximum brightness.

Potential Dis-advantage: For some the sudden change of color will more than likely be very noticeable by friends, family, and co-workers resulting in stares and questions.

It may be more expensive but clearly the quickest way to get whiter teeth.
